The decorative bracelet for jewelry has long been one of the latest fashion trends, and at the same time its popularity is only growing among young people. They are worn on the wrist, ankles, or simply decorate backpacks and handbags with them.

Among them, decorations made from multi-colored bright rubber bands occupy a special place. Many ways have been invented to weave this craft in various ways to create original patterns.

In many stores or just on the market there are special stands with this type of product. The assortment is so large that you can easily find a bauble to suit your taste. But you will probably be interested in making a bracelet yourself so that it turns out original and unlike others.

Today we will tell you how to weave this craft from rubber bands with a caterpillar pattern in different ways.

How to weave a caterpillar bracelet from rubber bands on a machine?

On the machine, remove the middle row and turn the columns so that their empty sides point to the right.

Take two loops and place them in a cross, turning each one over in a figure eight.

Again, take two irises of a different color and put them on in the same way, but without turning them over.

Pull the third row without twisting. The color is the same as the first layer.

Now take the hook and start weaving. Take the very bottom and move it to the center.

Do the same with the remaining three columns.

Take the white circles and put them on again without twisting them.

Again, from below, remove the rubber rings to the center from all the posts on the machine.

Again, put on the blue blanks with a crosshair and flip the bottom to the top.

Now you need to remove the rubber band bracelet from the machine and close it.

To do this, take a hook and remove all layers onto its base, one by one, from each protrusion of the machine.

With the other tip you need to hook all the layers of the opposite side in the same way. To make it easier, you can do this operation on a machine. To do this, pull a couple of layers over two protrusions and hook them.

All is ready! Now you know how to weave a bracelet from rubber bands using a machine.

In a similar way, you can weave such a bracelet from rubber bands on two forks connected to each other. You repeat all the steps, only instead of the four columns of the machine, use the four outer tines of the forks, so we won’t describe everything again.

In case something is not clear to you from the screenshots, we have posted a video below especially for you.

How to weave a bracelet from rubber bands on a slingshot?

Take the slingshot and put the first layer of the main color, which you will have in the center, on both bases, wrapping it in the shape of a figure eight. You put on the second one, which will go on the sides, without turning it over.

Using a hook, you throw the bottom in the shape of a figure eight to the top from each column.

You can immediately attach the lock (clip) so that you don’t have to worry about putting it on later.

Again, place two irises on the right side and one on both at once.

Grab the bottom row again and move it to the center on both sides.

You should notice that the base has started to grow in length on the right side.

You continue to weave.

Throw three rings on the right side and one more on both.

Place the bottom row in the center, as you have already done.

Use your fingers to grab the bottom three rows and move them to the center.

Continue weaving, repeating the same steps. Again, put on three elastic bands on the right and one common one.

Throw the lower layers on both sides to the center, then do the same with the right three irises.

You should have three rings.

Continue weaving until the rubber band bracelet reaches the length you need.

To finish, put three irises on the right protrusion and one common one on both.

Throw the bottom three layers in turn from right to middle, then the remaining three.

Place one ring on both protrusions and transfer the bottom row to it on the right and left.

Hook the resulting layers on one protrusion with the other side of the lock (clip).

That's all, the craft is ready!

If something is unclear to someone, see the video at the beginning of this method for details.

If you don't have a slingshot, you can do this craft even on two fingers. Now let's take a closer look at how this is done.

How to weave a caterpillar bracelet on your fingers?

Please note that before you begin this method of weaving, make sure that no one will distract or disturb you, since your fingers will be busy, and we think you will hardly want to do it all over again.

Place one iris on two fingers, turning it over in the shape of a figure eight.

On top you put on two more of the same color, but you no longer need to twist them.

Transfer the bottom row to the middle from both fingers.

Take the same color and put it on without turning it over.

Again, throw the lowest layers into the middle.

You will end up with two rows on each finger.

Now you need to make sure that there are three layers again. To do this, take another iris and place it over your fingers without twisting and again bring the bottom to the center.

Continue weaving in the same way until the craft reaches the desired length. From time to time you can change the colors to make it look more original.

When the craft reaches the length you need, it needs to be finished. To do this, throw the lower layers again to the center. There will be one loop left on each finger.

Remove them on your finger and attach them to the empty space of the lock.

That's all! You can wear it and enjoy!

As you can see, this type of weaving is quite simple, so even a beginner can easily learn it, but the result will exceed all your expectations, and you will certainly be able to please a person by giving him such a decoration made by yourself.

In addition, you do not have to buy a special weaving machine, which is not that cheap.

By the way, when you master this type of weaving, you can easily experiment with other weaving methods that your imagination will create while creating crafts.

In any case, if you weave it yourself, combining different colors, the result will be an original and bright decoration that no one else probably has. And if you interest a child in this process, he will probably become interested in this type of creativity, and who knows, maybe this will become his main hobby.

Good luck everyone and happy weaving!

The art of weaving with colored rubber bands came to us from America. You can weave anything from them: from earrings to swimsuits and dresses. There are many rubber bands of different colors, flavors, shapes, and there are even luminous ones. Therefore, from this variety you can choose the material you like and make a stylish thing from it. This will be the “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet, the manufacturing technology of which will be discussed in this article.

Bracelet "Caterpillar"

The rubber band method will allow needlewomen to develop their own style. In addition, elastic bands are inexpensive, and things made from them are not inferior in quality to modern costume jewelry, sometimes expensive.

When making things from rubber bands, each craftswoman will weave a decoration that suits her. The color scheme can be matched to specific outfits, which will make the image more complete.

The collection of elastic bracelets includes such types as “Wave”, “Bay Leaf”, “Bow”, “French Braid” and many others. The “Caterpillar” bracelet deserves special attention. It stands out among the rest in that the work is quite simple and at the same time beautiful and delicate.

What do you need

To weave a “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet, you need the following materials.

  • Elastic bands for weaving in different colors.
  • Hook for weaving.
  • Machine or slingshot.
  • Plastic clasp.

Before starting work, you need to study the diagram, read the instructions carefully, “Caterpillar”. If you have experience in weaving from rubber bands, then the work will be easy to complete.

A few words about the pattern by which the “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet is woven. First you need to work out the algorithm for performing weaves. It is better to train on elastic bands of contrasting colors so that you can better see the weave.

You need to learn how to do a figure eight with a rubber band well and quickly. You also need to practice removing the elastic from the post using a hook. Moreover, there are two options for removing the elastic: on the machine it is thrown over the side, and on the slingshot there are internal weaves. We must learn to distinguish them from each other and use them where necessary.

These are simple weaving methods. Having learned how to weave such bracelets well, you can take up more complex techniques that will help you unleash your creative potential and bring pleasure from your work.

Now you need to be patient and attentive and you can start doing the work.

Weaving on a machine

Bracelets made from rubber bands are fun and elegant. The “caterpillar” on the machine is simple to perform.

On the machine, remove the middle bar of the posts, leaving only the outer ones. For weaving, we take two, for example, blue and red. In the first row, we use blue rubber bands to make two figure eights on columns from corner to corner. This will be the only figure eight in the weave.

In the next row, red elastic bands are also worn from corner to corner. On top of them comes the blue color again. Now, using a crochet hook, remove the bottom blue elastic bands to the middle. Put the elastic bands back on and remove the bottom ones in the center. Thus, alternating red and blue loops, we weave a strip of the required length. To complete the weaving, you need to remove the elastic in the center, leaving only one at a time. Then we throw everything from each column onto one, pick up all four elastic bands, put it on the finger, stretch it and insert the hook. We put the other end of the hook on the first two loops.

The machine also makes weaving of larger bracelets. But we must remember that there are quite complex schemes, which can be started with thorough training.

Weaving on a slingshot

The “Caterpillar” bracelet made from rubber bands on a slingshot is made as follows. We put three rubber bands on the slingshot in a figure of eight. Then we remove the bottom one in the center and put a clip on it. Now we put on the rubber band again with a figure eight and remove the last one in the center. Repeat this row by row until the desired length and close with the second end of the clip.

The color design can be different: monochromatic, multi-colored without any strict pattern, or alternating contrasting colors.

Weaving on forks

Another way to weave a “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet is to weave with forks. For it, you need to take rubber bands of three colors, preferably contrasting ones, so that the weaving is clearly visible.

We carefully fasten the forks with tape, prepare 20 pieces of pink and orange elastic bands, 10 pieces of yellow ones (you can take colors as desired), and you will also need a hook for weaving.

We put the first yellow elastic band in a figure eight on the two outer prongs of both forks. Next comes an orange elastic band, fold it in half, put it on the two prongs of one fork and thread the end of the yellow one under it, throwing it onto the other fork. We fold the pink one in half, put it on the yellow one, thread the last one through and throw it over the orange one. Raise the orange rubber band above the yellow one, as usual.

We take the orange one again, fold it, put it on the yellow one, take it out and throw it on the pink one, remove the latter one in the center. And so on.

The outer colors are orange and pink, weave them in two elastic bands, then we divide the central yellow one into a figure of eight on both forks, put another yellow one on top, and remove the bottom one in the center. We throw one end of the yellow elastic band to the other side.

Making repeating blocks in this way, we weave to the desired length. At the end, divide the yellow elastic bands equally, throw the orange and pink ones into the center. We remove the edges of the yellow elastic bands onto one prong of a fork and then connect them with a clip to the other end of the bracelet.

Weaving on fingers

Let's consider another option on how to weave a “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet. The technology is the same as when working with a slingshot. With this method, our fingers will serve as columns, but otherwise the weaving will be similar. You can also do without a hook, but a clip for connecting both ends of the bracelet is still useful. You can make a multi-colored bracelet, as shown in the figure, or you can weave a pattern, for example, stripes of different colors, evenly replacing each other.

Weaving on nails

To make a “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet using this method, you must first prepare an improvised machine. It works as follows. We take a small board, sand it with sandpaper, drive two small nails with a hammer, at a distance of 3 cm from one another. This device will imitate a slingshot for weaving from rubber bands.

The pinnacle of excellence

Every needlewoman wants to make something that will not only be different from others, but will also become an example of her style. In this case, not only elastic bands are used for weaving, sometimes some other materials for crafts are added to them: ribbons, beads, pebbles, seed beads, ready-made flowers, etc. Such “highlights” will give the woven item exclusivity and an individual author’s style.

When an ordinary weave that anyone can make has such details, the product becomes unique: no one else has such an accessory.

Thus, the classic pattern for making a “Caterpillar” rubber band bracelet can become a pattern for an exclusive model. This item can be used either in your own wardrobe as jewelry or presented to someone as an original gift.

It’s not for nothing that this fairly popular pattern of weaving beaded jewelry has become so widespread. Its main feature is that, being made in different colors and materials, the jewelry turns out to be completely versatile! But invariably interesting thanks to the interesting “caterpillar” pattern.

Using the example of weaving a set of jewelry - both beads and beads - we will show this technique with all the nuances.

To weave jewelry from beads, you will need:

round glass beads, in our case white, opaque, 8 mm;

white Czech beads No. 11;

transparent crystal beads No. 8 or 9;

fishing line, monofilament or mylar thread for weaving;

beading needle;

for each decoration - 2 calottes;

one carabiner;

one ring for fastening in pairs with a carabiner;

round nose pliers;

pliers.

DIY bead jewelry: job description

We thread a needle into a thread for weaving, tie a small bead to the tip and tie it with a knot. We cut off the excess thread.

We pass the needle through the callot, as shown in the photo above. The bead must fall into the cavity of the callot so that it “hides” there.

Use pliers to pinch the callot so that the bead is hidden in it.

Using round nose pliers we form a ring from the free end, but do not close it.

We put on the carabiner.

We close the ring, thus fixing the carabiner - a clasp for decoration made of beads.

We put 2 glass beads on the needle and immediately - beads: N number of white small beads, one larger crystal bead, and then the same number of white small beads. We advise you to calculate the number N yourself: the entire bead string should wrap around 2 beads on one side, but not dangle. You may have to do this set 2-3 times to determine the optimal number of small white beads. I got the calculation: 6 white, 1 crystal, again 6 white.

We “wrap” our 2 beads with stringed beads, and again thread the needle through both beads in the direction from the calotte. We pull out the thread.

As you can see, our bead base lies quite tightly, there are no empty spaces on the thread, but the base does not look too loose. So we did everything right. We put the same bead thread on the needle as in the previous case.

Again we pass the needle from the calotte through two beads, but at the same time we place our low one on the other side of the beads.

We put 1 bead on the needle plus our bead base.

We pass the needle in the direction from the calotte through 2 beads: a new one cast on and one cast on in the previous pass. In this case, we move the beaded base of the previous order a little down, i.e. We lay the new low on top.

We pick up another low one and lay it on the other side. We also pass the needle through the 2 outer beads.

We continue to weave the bead decoration in the same way: one bead, low beaded; again beaded low on the other side.

We weave a piece of jewelry of the length you need - it can be a bracelet, beads or a fashionable “collar”. At the end of the work on the accessory, there is one nuance - in the braiding of the last bead. When the bracelet or beads have reached the desired length, we collect our bead base starting from the crystal bead. For us it is “1 crystal bead, 6 white”. At the same time, we wind the needle with only one bead, and not two, as was the case in weaving before. Here we also additionally fastened both layers of the braid of beads so that they do not move.

We finish the work on bead jewelry in the same way as we started: insert the needle into the calotte, pick up 1 small bead, and make a secure setting. We went through the base of the calotte several times to ensure that the thin thread did not break while wearing the product. We fasten the thread and cut it.

Close the calotte using pliers; Using round pliers we make a loop on which we put the ring - the carabiner clasp will cling to it.

Our jewelry made from beads and beads are ready to go out into the world!
